Cost awareness: Choosing the right help!

If you feel unwell, there are a number of services in the Aegeri Valley and in the Canton of Zug that are available +- right on your doorstep:

Self-help
Self-care is usually the best choice to treat very minor illnesses, ailments and injuries. A number of common illnesses and ailments such as coughs, colds, sore throats, upset stomachs and aches and pains can often be treated with a well-stocked medicine cabinet.

Pharmacy
The pharmacy in Unterägeri offers confidential, expert advice and treatment for a range of common illnesses and ailments without having to wait for a doctor’s appointment or go to the emergency center at the cantonal hospital.

Dentist
Dentists are healthcare professionals who can help you achieve healthy teeth and gums through regular checkups and treat you when needed.
There are dental offices in the Aegeri Valley. Your dentist will decide how often to see you based on the condition of your mouth, teeth and gums. If you have no current problems, your dentist may not need to see you for another two years.
If you need to see a dentist outside of normal office hours or are not currently registered with a dentist, please contact the Emergency Dental Service 0844 22 40 44.

Family doctor
In the Aegeri Valley, the family doctor is still the first port of call in case of accident or illness. Family doctor appointments have unfortunately become a scarce commodity and are associated with waiting times. However, if you have an illness or injury that won’t go away, you should make an appointment at your primary care physician’s office. For easier problems, use the other services suggested here.

Out of hours and urgent advice
In case of health problems, please call 0900 008 008 when the family doctor’s office is closed. This will connect you with professional staff at the Zug Medical Emergency Center, who will assess your condition and direct you to the local emergency service that best meets your needs.

General practitioner-led emergency practice of Zug doctors
The emergency practice of the Zug doctors is located in the Zug Cantonal Hospital in Baar and is a family doctor-managed health service, which serves the residents of the Canton of Zug. train is available and where you can be treated without an appointment. There, primary care and pediatric care is provided for patients with a new or recent injury or illness. Treats minor illnesses and injuries, including infections, rashes, lacerations, stomach upset, cuts, bruises, burns and strains, emergency prevention and counseling. Serious problems are referred directly to the emergency center of the Zug Cantonal Hospital.
Open weekdays from 6pm to 11pm, weekends and holidays from 9am-2pm.

Emergency Medical Service Canton Zug, 0900 008 008
0900 008 008 is a service that is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. It provides help and advice for those times when it is not a 144 emergency, but you still need help and advice quickly. If you dial 0900 008 008, you will be redirected to the most appropriate local service for you.

Emergency center Cantonal Hospital or emergency call 144 Rescue service
The emergency number 144 should only be dialed in a critical or life-threatening situation. When you dial 144 and state an emergency situation, an emergency vehicle will be dispatched to your location.
Please remember that the Emergency Center and 144 Ambulance Service are for real accidents and emergencies. Improper use of these services can cause unnecessary delays for those who need urgent assistance and wastes valuable resources.
