Family Medicine

Family medicine is usually the first medical point of contact in the health care system and ensures open and unlimited access for all users and for all health problems, regardless of the age, gender or other characteristics of the person concerned.

Our goals and priorities

At the Gesundheitspunkt, the many tasks of family medicine are performed as part of patient-centered, integrated care, by a team of professionals led by a family physician who works from evidence-based guidelines.

Our family medicine services in detail:

Home visits and care at home

Many people do not want to go into a nursery home until care at home is no longer possible. We at Gesundheitspunkt understand this. However, in order to make this wish possible, the cooperation of patient, relatives, SPITEX, meal service and family doctor is needed.  The SPITEX employees are central, because in such cases they not only fulfill their core tasks of care or housekeeping, but they also take on the function as eyes and ears and extended arm of the family doctor between his home visits.

Do you need care at home or can you no longer manage your household without outside help? The SPITEX of the Canton of Zug is looking forward to your direct registration.

We are very much behind the concept of the personal GP, but have not been able to realize our own aspirations in this regard so far. Why? Because we clash with another important care concept: the concept of easy access to the family doctor, which we value even more in the interest of patients from the whole valley as well as in the interest of good family doctor care. This means that if you wish to have a consultation on the same day or the following day, this cannot necessarily be done with your own family doctor. Tip: register early with your family doctor.
People call us in different languages for very different reasons: Appointments, medication orders, physical or psychological problems. Inquiries about SPITEX, pharmacy prescriptions, etc.. We have two lines manned with specialized personnel at the known rush hours and 1 line manned at the other times. We are doing a lot to get the annoyance of a busy line and the associated waiting times under control (see the possibilities of this new homepage). However, there will always be waiting times, for which we apologize.
Of course, this reproach hits us very hard. We can assure you that we want to improve here and are keeping an eye on the situation. In 2022, for example, we were able to reduce the average turnaround time (agreed appointment start time to end of consultation) from 30 min. to 26 min. We are staying on the ball!
Although we could of course also use this time for patient care, we are convinced that we are using it for the benefit of our patients. Many of our future-oriented concepts, e.g. interprofessionalism, data-driven and integrated care, can only be implemented with a flat hierarchy and an extreme team approach. In order to bring the whole team along, we have a team meeting once a week. We also start our working day with a 10-minute coordination meeting, which allows the team to work stress-free and saves the patients waiting time.
