After compulsory schooling in Zug, I studied medicine at the University of Zurich, where I graduated in 1980 with a state examination and a doctorate in medicine. Subsequently, residency at the University Hospital Zurich and the Cantonal Hospital Zug.
In 1987, I obtained the title of specialist in general internal medicine. In 1988, I took over the practice of Dr. Ernst Zäch in Oberägeri, thus entering the field of family medicine.

In addition to my work as a general practitioner, I have always held public functions: 1989-1999 cantonal physician adjunct, 1990-2000 development of the rescue service of the canton of Zug (RDZ) and responsible RDZ physician, 2007-2012 president of the conference of cantonal MPA delegates of the FMH, 2011-2015 as president of the OdA Med responsible for the development of the tertiary level education of MPAs to MPK EFA, 2012-2019 development and management of the emergency practice of Zug physicians.
